What do I need to do if my dog has a high fever temperature above 105 F?

ANSWER

Your dog has a fever if its temperature is above 103 F. With a high fever above 105 F, you can cool your dog down by dampening its fur with water, especially around the ears and feet. Fanning your pet will help even more. Take your dog’s temperature through its bottom while you do this. Stop cooling them once it drops to 103 F. You don’t want to bring down the temperature too fast.

If your dog has a fever, try to see that it drinks small amounts of water regularly, but don’t force it. Never give your dog human medicine to bring his fever down; it can be poisonous or even deadly.
