What are the symptoms that you may see as your dog's congestive heart failure gets worse?

ANSWER

Heart failure is when your dog’s heart has trouble pumping blood to the rest of its body. It can take years before you notice the symptoms. But as it gets worse, you may notice that your dog:

  • A swollen belly from fluid buildup
  • Faints because of blocked blood flow to the brain
  • Has bluish gray tongue or gums because of poor oxygen flow
  • Loses weight as it has trouble storing healthy fat
